God's Love & Comfort

"The Lord is my Shepherd;  I shall not want"  Psalm 23:1

"It is God who clothes the wild grass...Won't He be all the more sure to clothe you? What little faith you have!"  Matthew 6:30

Think of all the ways God has provided for you you're whole life; especally when you needed it most!  I can think of several:

1.  When I couldn't afford to buy a bed or futon, I was sleeping on an inflatable mattress - that had a leak!  So every morning I woke up on the floor, the mattress completely deflated.   Inflating the mattress nightly became a routine without thinking twice.

Then one morning, out in front of my neighbors lawn,  I saw a brand new boxspring and mattress (queen size), sitting out as if to discard!   I knocked on their door and my neighbor said I could have it.   He even helped me carry it inside, as it was too heavy for me by myself.

It's a nice reminder to me of how God provides for all our needs, when I lie down to sleep on the bed that God gave to me in the way He did!

2.  Another time I almost drowned in the ocean swimming with a friend when we got caught in the cross-currents and were immediately swept out way far from the beach.  We screamed our heads off but no one paid us any attention.  The water was rough as the weather was bad.   I could not swim too well. But I tread water long after I could ever do normally.  Beyond tired, my were limbs about to fall off from exhaustion.  But fear kept me going beyond my capacity!  I kept going under water.  I was panicked.  But my friend was calm.  (She could swim better, I think!).   She kept me calm until the lifeguards saw us and got out to us.

I know if she had not been there with me, I most probably would have drowned.  But I didn't!  Nor my friend!  Praise God!   Because I really believed it was the end for me at the time.  It was the most afraid I had been in my whole life.    It was on Father's Day too.  God also spared my dad from losing his 20-year-old daughter that Father's Day.
